EDS: The Exception Detection System developed exclusively by Flamesoft Systems, is a system that continuously scans all the data in an enterprise, compares that data against preset conditions, at preset times and e-mails a report to the individuals, or group of individuals, responsible for the condition.

All the data: What does all the data in an enterprise mean? It means all OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) data, all the warehoused data, and any other database files that an enterprise may use to run their day to day operations. Virtually any combination of databases can be continuously scanned with the EDS system, including (Oracle, MS SQL, Informix, DB2, MS Access, dBase or Paradox Files).

Preset Conditions: What does preset conditions mean? It means anything that anyone in an enterprise would like to be brought to their attention. Traditional computer systems require users to go to a computer or Terminal and ask for a report and then sift through possibly hundreds of pages of reports to find problems in their organization. This traditional way of using a computer to run an organization, has some major problems with it. First, the individual who needs to know of the problems, has to go to computer and run the report and analyze the report. This means the user has to be at the computer at given intervals, remember to run the report, then must analyze the report accurately to make proper decisions. The new way of working, using EDS, you establish what condition you might have been looking for in the first place, for example, a preset condition would be any Purchase Order issued over $25,000 or any Customer Order where the price is 20% lower than the normal price paid or Clients who haven’t bought in the last three months.

Preset Times: What does preset times mean? It means, only inform people when they want, or need to be informed. A preset time might be to check only at the end of each business day or at the end of each week or every month. Critical production information that needs to be examined by production or quality managers may be scanned for every hour. |

Knowledge to the people: The last piece of the puzzle is responsible individuals, the people in your organization who need to be informed of the preset conditions at the preset times. Because EDS uses e-mail to dispatch all its reports, reports can be sent instantaneously worldwide, to anyone, for example sales people on the road can be notified of stock changes, or client requests. EDS can also send important information to people outside of your organization. Important price change information or even statements can be delivered automatically to clients all over the world. |
